We love this place!
We love this place! I have a dog who is essentially afraid of his own shadow, so going to the vet can be the most exhausting experience for everyone. When I called, I let them know that he would probably prefer a female vet (he's a rescue, and someone definitely hit him prior to landing with me). They were so accommodating, and Willie was a literal saint while we were there, mostly b/c the staff is highly trained and totally relaxed. From the vet tech to Dr. Danaher-Hodges, we are so glad this is right down the street from us and that we found these guys. Willie and I say thanks for the treats!
Dr. B is the best!
Dr. B is the best! He is a seasoned vet and we only go to see him and no other. The staff is friendly and accommodating, my experience has been wonderful and never waited more than 10 minutes to get called in.
So happy to have found this place!
We recently moved to the area and needed a new vet ASAP when our cat wasn't feeling well. Based on the reviews, I called different a local vet and made a same-day appointment. To my surprise, I accidentally called Jersey City Animal Hospital instead of that other vet without realizing it, so I actually ended up here by accident. We appreciated the experience so much that we brought our dog the very next day for his overdue checkup. Dr. Buchholz and his assistants were so great with both our cat and dog (who is a highly anxious pitbull). He was super knowledgeable, personable, and not the least bit pushy. He outlined our options and gave us space to make the decisions that worked best for us. So happy to have found this place!
Best Animal Hospital!
Best Animal Hospital! My 4-year-old lab was feeling really sick and I took him there at 8 AM without an appointment as an emergency and they took him in ASAP! The nurse was very sweet and the doctor did a great job checking him and finding the issue. My dog was feeling 50% better just after the injection he received and after taking the prescribed medication, he was almost 100% back to normal. Also, just to mention- they are cheaper than my regular vet price-wise. They even called the next day to see how my dog is feeling. So yeah, overall great experience 10/10. Thank you Jersey city Animal hospital staff and Doctor!
My experience is that this hospital will do whatever is necessary for you and your pet.
I've always had a good experience with Westside Animal Hospital. They treated my black lab "Max", then "Danny" my shepherd. In their later years "Max" ended up with cancer and "Danny" with DM (degenerative myelopathy). In both cases, Dr. Buchholz made the correct diagnosis. In Max's case, Dr. Buchholz suggested that because of Max's age and condition chemo treatment wouldn't be advisable. Well, I couldn't standby and do nothing while Max was dying, so I brought him to Red Bank Animal Hospital for this treatment...It almost killed him. After one treatment we built him back up as best we could and then spoiled him to the end. My experience is that this hospital will do whatever is necessary for you and your pet and even though I currently don't have a dog, I will sometime in the near future and Westside will be its Vet.
Kind, considerate and understanding.I cannot say enough about Dr. Buchholz as a vet and a person. I walked into his office with a battered stray, near-death and 15 years later she's still going strong. He is what a doctor should be: kind, considerate and understanding. He talks to me and offers options before any procedure. His staff is friendly and there are very good on reminder calls and follow up calls. I wish my children's pediatricians were as thoughtful as Dr. B.
I could not love these doctors more!
I could not love these doctors more! They treated my dog for many years until her recent death at the age of 19 years and 7 months! They loved her and treated her like she was their own. Every doctor I saw there was kind and more than competent. My dog faced many health challenges over the years and she overcame them all due to the excellent care she received. I was always told ahead of time what the cost would be and I was always given options. Any questions I had were answered in full. If I had an emergency or was just concerned about the dog, my calls were always returned.
One of the doctors actually attended a medical conference just to find out more about one of the conditions my dog had. One time I had a medical emergency with my dog and the hospital was closed when I got there. The receptionist who was still there closing up personally drove us to a hospital in Hoboken to get treatment. I want to particularly single out Dr. Bucholz for going above and beyond on many occasions for us. When my dog passed away, I felt as if they grieved with us. I would not hesitate to recommend them highly!
